Lip Lift - a simple addition to rejuvenate the face
Lip lift is an often overlooked procedure to rejuvenate the face. A long upper lip is a telltale sign of aging. The upper lip extends from just underneath the nose down to the space between the upper and lower lower lips. When this length is too long, the face has a more aged appearance. A lip lift shortens the distance from the nose to the bottom of the lip, which gives a more youthful appearance. This is completely different than injecting the lips with some kind of filler, which adds volume to the lip. The lip is shortened by the removal of skin from the area of the lip underneath the nose, concealing the scar in the natural sulcus and shadow that lies just beneath the nose. Below is an example of a lip lift done by Dr. Weinrach. Notice the shorter upper lift with more show of the vermilion (the colored part of the lip) and more youthful appearance. She also had an upper blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery):
